The Underbuzz

Welcome to the underbuzz. This newspaper is a medium for us, school bus drivers, to communicate about current issues. After all, our district motto is Communication is the key to cooperation. It may contain opinions, points of view , or a reality model that may be helpful to drivers who haven't found the way of seeing things that works for them yet.

Color Code: We've had two lectures on the color code since I started here. I thought the first one was great. Bought the book and read it. If you haven't read it, I recommend you do. It will help you understand your students and your fellow colleagues. Another good book to read is Gaining Control by Senator Bob Bennett. In this book he teaches you about being able to predict how other people will react to given

situations. I guarantee it will help you clean your belief windows.

Insubordination: There seems to be some in our department. I know I have a touch of it. But it seems to be getting worse for others. Let's tie this to belief windows. Do you believe that if a member of Tango One's staff asks you directly not to double park your bus in front of the shop to run in and get something and you do it repetitively anyway? Is that a symbol of insubordination? If it's in writing in the BusBuzz does it change the weight of the instruction? How about telling each other on the radio about tails lights? Do you have an understanding that reading the BusBuzz is required by your employer? If not, you may have a messed up belief window.

Time: I can't think of anyone who has lost their source of income around here for being late. Yet there seems to be a lot of concern on the radio. My Belief Window says if you start on time you have no worries. Its one thing to ask the shop to call your school to hold breakfast or excuse the students for being late but to argue over the radio that it will make you late when they ask you to go back and get Johnny is redundant. They know it will make you late. Consider: "10-4 eta XX minutes" and move on Safely.
